Territory

Our company and its lands are located in Diano d'Alba, one of the municipalities of Lower Langa, part of the larger area of the Langhe, recognised in 2014 as a natural site protected by UNESCO both for the beauty of the land and for the high quality gourmet products, appreciated all over the world. It is a real pleasure to admire the sinuous charm of our hills "combed" by agricultural work and dotted with ancient castles.

Most of our vineyards can boast the denomination of Sori, a term in dialect that specifies lands with a privileged exposure to the sun and a specific micro-climate that make them particularly suited to wine-growing.

The company is 10 km from Alba, the pearl of the Langhe, in the direction of Barolo on Provincial Road 130 that runs from Gallo d'Alba leads to Sinio. We are also located 2.8 km from the picturesque Castle of Grinzane Cavour which hosted the Count Camillo Benso di Cavour for almost

twenty years and 4.6 km from the centre of Diano d'Alba, a name evoking the goddess Diana of the ancient Romans: the woods consecrated to her in fact were on the hill on which the village stands, as evidenced by a tabernacle or temple dedicated to her, visible at the village entrance.

One of the activities of our territory, perhaps not well known but to which our family has been linked for generations, both as fans and as players, is pallapugno in dialect balon a sport practised only in southern Piedmont and Liguria, linked to rural culture and narrated by writers such as Edmondo De Amicis, Cesare Pavese, Beppe Fenoglio, Arpino Giovanni and Franco Piccinelli. It was initially played in the squares, the village districts and the courtyards of houses and then it landed in the ball courts, among which the most famous is undoubtedly the historic Sferisterio Alessandro Mermet in Alba. In the most exciting games, rooting is almost like in stadium!
